I read the first book, A Time to Kill, before the movie came out, but I think Matthew McConaughey was a great choice for playing Jake. That makes him an obvious person to help when his godson, Sweet Water High School student Matthew Crimstein, expresses concern to his grandmother, attorney Hester Crimstein, that his bullied classmate Naomi Pine has gone missing. Another exciting and complex plot where a local cop was killed by a sixteen year old boy in Clanton, Mississippi. The books aren't necessarily connected, but it's nice to have the background on the characters and places that are present in this book. And they are really good.
